Problems with Agricultural Simulator 2011 Extended Edition

I downloaded Agricultural Simulator 2011 Extended Edition from Steam about 3 weeks ago. I still have not been able to play the game :(

I have contacted Steam with my problem, who then told me I had to contact the third party developer Layernet. When I contacted Layernet the only response I received was to get the latest driver for my video card & if that didn't work to post the problem on this forum. Needless to say, I am extremely irritated with the whole situation. Nothing I have tried has helped. I have googled the problem a million times & tried everything on Steam's support forum. I still cannot get the game to work.

I get 3 title screens, the last of which is "Insomnia" & then that title dims out & it just freezes. I can't even get to the screen to put in the Product Key for the game. Here is what I have tried & if anyone has any other suggestions, please let me know. I have turned off the UAC, I have uninstalled & reinstalled the game about a million times, I have uninstalled & reinstalled the Steam client just as many times. I have tried running both Steam & the game as Administrator. I have uninstalled my anti-virus & turned off the Windows Firewall & tried running the game. I have also validated the game's cache & it is coming out fine. I even tried downloading the patch 1.1.0.4 from here to see if that would help.

Do you have a "back to desktop"after the title screen "Insomnia?

I think I know this!
For me it was the graphics card.

Thanks for the warm welcome :)

No...it just freezes. I hit esc & it just goes away. It shows that I have played the game for 39 minutes right now on the Steam client page. That's how many times I have tried to get past that. There have been, however, several times that I have gotten to where it will bring up "Loading" at the bottom and that is follwed by an error message that says "farm.dll has encountered a problem".

I have Farming Simulator 2011 & it works just fine...no problems at all, but I purchased the disc & installed...

Hello ksigmon,
it is possible that you can post the log-file from the game?
You should find the system.log.js in the installtion directory of the game.

Do you have connected a gamecontroller?

And my last question, do you tried the german demo of the game?

Hello,
i have also a question to your problem:
do you know, which graphic setting do you use?
please check the setting here: "device.icom" - "Set device.size"
(i instralled the game in here:)
c:\spiele\AgrarSimulator2011\system\
At which folder do you have installed the game?

Do you start the game as normal Uer, or as Admin?

I had exactly the same problem and exactly the same response that you had, however when i checked the forums i saw that a lot of people are having a similar problem. One of the fixes (and the one that worked for me) was to change the settings on your sound card to 16 bit 44100 htz CD quality. this seemed to do the trick for me.

Cant say that i am impressed with them releasing a game that is this fussy about what sound setting you have your PC set to.

Thanks for all the help everyone!! I reinstalled my factory soundcard, changed the ouput, installed the demo, & then reinstalled the game through Steam & it works...Finally after a month I will get to play :D

There is another thread on these forums that deal with this game not running correctly. I searched and found the answer to my problem there.

However I had previously been emailing the company directly to try and resolve my problem first which is where I got the same replies as the OP

I have the same problem, that the game freeze and it happens no more. :(
I've tried to change the sound, installing the demo, reinstalling steam and the game but it won't work out for me.

I have the exact same issue too. However, apparently now on Steam, they've completely removed any and all forums for the game, so I can't get any kind of community support over there. I get nothing but 404 errors from the Library page and store page. I'm flat out of patience.

- I reset my sound card to CD Quality, didn't work.

- I un/re/installed the demo, it doesn't work either.

- I updated my video drivers, didn't work.

- Un/Re/Installed on Steam, didn't work.

when you it install, please deactivate your virus scanners

I'm running 1.1.0.6, I've been running it as administrator and unless I'm out surfing the net, I keep my anti-virus off.

I installed those Physx drivers and that didn't fix it either.

I have a product that I purchased from you, that does not work on my system. There is nothing exceptional about my system. You have no idea how to fix it, and it's for a product that is no longer supported by your company, or by the service I purchased it from (Steam). I want my money back.
